NEW IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS

July 2010

Beginning with the 2010 – 2011 school year, the state has issued new immunization requirements for all students in 6th – 12th grades.  The requirements are listed below:

ONE dose of tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap) given on or after the 10th birthday.

ONE dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4).

TWO doses of varicella vaccine (chickenpox), given on or after the first birthday, and separated by age-appropriate intervals as defined by CDC OR a history of chickenpox disease.  A signed written statement from parent/guardian indicating month and year of disease is sufficient.

If you have not yet received these vaccinations, the Jennings County Health Department is still giving immunizations FREE OF CHARGE each Tuesday from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. You may also receive these immunizations from your family doctor.   If the immunizations are not completed by the beginning of school in August, students will be excluded from school on September 9, 2010, until the requirements are met.

PLEASE DISREGARD THIS NOTICE IF YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED THE REQUIRED IMMUNIZATIONS AND HAVE SUBMITTED PROOF OF THEM TO SCHOOL!
